Mobile Web Development at OpenSiteMobile

This is my development area for exploring the possibilites of offering equal access to both 'small screen' and 'large screen' display devices from the same basic pages. This page, like many of my first attempts at mobile compliant pages, is sized for 240px or wider mobile devices. My linked pages are mobile compliant (240px wide), but most of the reference links on them are to standard (none compliant) websites. Please see opensite.mobi for my latest mobile enabled website.

Our philosophy is to use simple pages, optimized for small screens, but make sure usage is not limited to PDA's or smartphones. Our goal is to offer full website functionality including: online shopping, blogging and site maintenance, to users via small screen as well as medium and large display devices.

By integrating open source software solutions (javascript, xhtml, css and perl), I hope to provide techniques for eliminating the need for separate "mobile only" websites for the average small business user.
